Composting is turning your old food into plant food.

Composting is the natural process of breaking down organic matter, such as leaves and vegetable peels, into a valuable fertiliser that can enrich the soil and help feed plants, making them stronger.

Consider the cycle of life: every living organism on Earth eventually perishes and decomposes. Composting vegetable matter is crucial in this cycle, as it returns vital nutrients to the soil. Without this process, these nutrients would be lost, ending up in a landfill and releasing methane gas as they rot.

Despite its initial complexity, composting is a straightforward process that can significantly reduce the environmental impact of food waste. The process involves mixing food scraps, cut grass, cardboard, wood, and dry leaves with air and water, creating an ideal environment for bacteria and fungi to grow and do their decomposing work. The end result is rich, fertile soil.
